This basket has a gently square shape and is made of soft material.
It is woven using palm leaves. There are two types of palm leaves: natural (cream-colored) and black. The black leaves are dyed with chemical dyes.This is a distinctive weaving technique in which small triangular patterns are arranged in rows.The lid can be closed by placing it over the body basket. The height of the body can be adjusted due to the rather tight fit of the lid and body.It would be good to use the lid and body in different places.This is the underside of the bottom of the basket. The basket itself is soft and has no reinforcement to support the bottom, so it is not suitable for carrying heavy objects in (please note that this may cause damage).When holding the basket with items inside, please handle it by supporting the bottom with both hands. The core material in the rim may pop out a little by vibration during use, but you can push it back in with your fingers.This is S size.For storing accessories, glasses, sunglasses, watches, and other personal items. These baskets are woven from palm leaves, traditionally made in the region of Chettinad in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
The local people have revived the once nearly extinct techniques through the activities of a non-profit organization, and the income from the products now provides an additional source of income for the women engaged in farming.
The Kottan series is an original design by Suno & Morrison, a Japanese designer.
The baskets are created in collaboration with the makers, including the size of the baskets, weaving method, and color scheme.
