Nearly 30 years ago a young man from Togo, West Africa met a woman from rural Washington State. Inspired to create a more equitable world, Alaffia, a social enterprise was born from this union. Founded in 2003, Alaffia continues to redefine the natural products industry through its core values of beauty, equality, and empowerment. Safe and efficacious hair, face, and body care are made at a thriving cooperative in Togo. Empowerment projects are Alaffia’s mission in action. Targeted development ensures basic needs are met for a dignified life. This allows Togolese communities to provide their skills and knowledge to the rest of the world and rise out of poverty.
